China accelerates global green development through GEIDCO
China has become an important force in promoting international energy cooperation and advancing worldwide green and low-carbon development in recent years, said industry experts.
China has played a critical role in bringing clean energy to the world, as well as in connecting the grid and the energy market through global energy interconnection during the past few years with its initiative of Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, said Wu Xuan, chief operation officer of the GEIDCO, during a forum held in Beijing on Wednesday.
It has not only accelerated the development of clean power replacements, but also provided a technically feasible and economical solution for large scale green power, he said.
According to Wu, the organization will continue to accelerate the implementation of engineering projects worldwide, especially in countries and regions participating the Belt and Road Initiative.
Established in China in 2016, GEIDCO is a nongovernmental, nonprofit international organization with member firms, associations, institutions and individuals dedicated to promoting the sustainable development of energy worldwide.
It is the first international organization in the energy field initiated and established by China. As of now, the total number of members of the cooperative organization has reached 1,302, covering 141 countries and regions, building an international cooperation network based on consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.
