HIGH-LEVEL SYMPOSIUM “GLOBALENERGYINTERCONNECTION: ADVANCINGTHESUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENTGOALS”
Sustainable development is the most urgent task of the highest priority in the international community. Energy is a core issue of sustainable development. Global energy interconnection (GEI) promises to be a far-reaching accelerator of SDGs, including in contributing to universal access to sustainable energy, easing resource constraint and environmental challenges, and combating climate change.
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) is committed to the implementation of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and guiding different countries around the world to meet their economic, social and environmental challenges. Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) is dedicated to the development of global energy Interconnection (GEI), promoting green and low-carbon energy transformation worldwide, to ultimately contributing to the innovative, coordinated and sustainable development of human society.
On November 1st , UN DESAand GEIDCO will jointly hold a high-level symposium, aiming to promote an enhanced understanding among participants of how to accelerate progress towards implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the GEI Action Plan developed by GEIDCO, and facilitate the development of GEI in different countries. Through joint efforts and cooperation, the meeting hopes to contribute to the realization of 17 SDGs set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The UN Secretary-General Guterrez and the Chairman of the GEIDCO Liu Zhenyawill attend the symposiumand make a speech.

Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) is an international organization among enterprises, organizations, research institutions and individuals who are dedicated to promoting the sustainable development of energy worldwide. The purpose of GEIDCO is to promote the establishment of a Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) system, to meet the global demand for electricity in a clean and green way, to implement the United Nations “Sustainable Energy for All” and climate change initiatives, and to serve the sustainable development of humanity.
